“Asmakam” is a sanskrit word meaning “Ours” or “For Us”. It it is a place to explore “Ourselves”.
Our Journey’s seeds are endless questions about our life and how every action and milestone is dictated by society’s conditioned belief system and false definitions of growth, success and happiness. Deep exploration about how the knowledge and wisdom from our vedic scriptures guided our ancestors in leading a balanced, fulfilling life addressing material, emotional and spiritual growth, empowered us to take a democratic decision of unschooling Maitreyee and Atri which in turn became unlearning and lifelong learning journey for four of us .
This self learning journey of our family opened up endless opportunities to experiment with everything we do in our life. Starting from a self learning space to natural farming, water conservation, forestation, conscious living, wellness, natural housing and many other experiments manifested into a beautiful community called “Asmakam”.
